Labour in Leighton-Linslade

South West Bedfordshire Labour Party currently have no councillors on Leighton Linslade Town Council.

Our policy positions for Leighton-Linslade include:

  • We oppose the housing development at Valley Farm to the west of Linslade, as well as further development beyond that agreed by Central Bedfordshire's Development Strategy. We support the transition of the Valley Farm site to green belt status.
  • We support the construction of HS2. In addition to the benefits of faster travel times between London and Birmingham, HS2 is an essential part of the solution to capacity problems on the Euston line through Leighton-Linslade, as well as helping to rebalance the economy by bringing greater economic development to Birmingham and the North West.
  • Improved infrastructure for cyclists: Our designation as a cycling town gave a great boost to cycling in Leighton-Linslade, but there is still a need to extend safe cycling routes in town, and for improved secure cycle storage at Leighton-Linslade rail station.
  • Improved funding for policing: We will continue to work with the Town Council in their campaign to secure proper police funding for Leighton-Linslade.
